Your family history can depend on us

Thank you for visiting the site of RAD GRANDPA. We are an Edmonton portrait studio providing portrait photography, wedding photography, and event photography services. Our photography studio is located in the heart of the Whyte / Queen Alexandra area and run by Douglas Dollars. We’re proud to also announce that we’re the Official Photographer of the Edmonton Symphony Orchestra’s 60th Season (which is 2011/2012).

Shooting with natural light on location or with a full studio lighting setup in our studio affectionately known as RAD MANOR allows us the flexibility of photography environment you need.

We enjoy photographing anything we can that allows people to be themselves and happy. We photo everything between small shoots of individuals and couples to large settings including family groups and weddings.

If you are interested in hiring our photographic talents or just want to talk about a shoot idea you have, feel free to contact us email me via douglas@radgrandpa.com or give me a call at 780-964-3684. We like having fun, and would love to hear from you.

Helping you protect and share your memories

Edmonton portrait photography - we keep your photos safe

We keep your photos safe

Have you ever lost a photo that you wished you could get back? We haven’t. All photos we shoot are covered by our 6X distributed backup system:

  1. Our primary copy
the files used to create your finished photo memories
  2. A second fault-tolerant copy, safe against multiple drive failures
a computer crashing is no excuse with us
  3. Another copy spread across encrypted servers online
so we can get your files to you from anywhere on the globe
  4. Your online full-resolution gallery
accessible by you any time, any day, anywhere
  5. The finished photos we deliver to you
a remote copy of your photos in your own home
  6. In a bank vault!
secure behind the largest concrete-reinforced and steel bank vault we could find in Edmonton

Thanks to these measures, we can quickly get another copy of your photos to you on very short notice in the event that you lose yours. It’s our job to help you protect, share, and keep your memories forever. We haven’t lost a photo yet, and we think you’ll enjoy never losing one as well.

Our lab, your prints, your access

We give you absolute access to our lab through your online gallery and let you order any additional prints you want at the prices we would pay, from the labs that we personally trust. Your CD/DVD of photos lets you share and print anywhere you like, as well.

We use the finest photo labs in North America with Bay Photo and EZprints, and our prints are made on the finest Kodak Edge, Kodak Endura, and Kodak Professional Endura papers. These are ‘archive quality’ papers, designed to last for generations, equivalent to 100+ years before noticeable fading occurs in a typical home display, and over 200 years in dark storage.

Packages and pricing

We have portrait and wedding photography packages available, but love to hear what you have in mind. For events such as groups or weddings, every situation is unique and we’d love to talk about what you’d like to have captured in your photography session with us. We’re open to anything fun!

Location, location, location

We operate out of Edmonton’s Whyte Avenue / Queen Alexandra area, but can set up a portrait photo session anywhere in the Edmonton area for you. We have no problem setting up a session in-studio on short notice. We value your trust in our services, and feel confident knowing we offer the above services to every client.
